Temperatures have risen, cherry blossoms have blossomed, spring is officially in the air, and I couldn't be wanting anything more than shoes lately. Long before my desperate cry for Cole Haan oxfords, I began to make a spring wish list, which quickly turned into a solely shoe wish list. As I worked on my litto collage for you guys, something caught my attention -- a lot of these shoes were either nude, strappy, had cut-outs, an ankle wraparound thing going on, or some sort of combination of all that. It was then that I realized I was having a moment with shoes of the previously described sort. There's just something about them. All of them. For starters, what's better than a neutral ass nude shoe? Although that sounds incredibly boring, the color couldn't be more perfect and pretty much guarantees you'll get some good use per wear out of them. The wrap around ankle straps, lacey tie-ups, perforated and cage-like nature of the shoes are just the cherry on top, giving each shoe their own little somethin' somethin' making them undeniably irrestible to the eye. Or at least my eye. Below find all the shoes I wish were already in my closet ready and waiting to be worn.
Starting with the most lust worthy of them all in the top left corner, Azzedine Alaia's leather lace-up sandals. Simple in their shape and color, the lace-up straps are definitely the shoe's defining factor. You know, like their X factor, which happens to also make one of the best fashion oxymorons of all time -- subtly sexy. If you're asking yourself can a shoe really be sexy... well, just look at 'em, duhz. I asked, well attempted to ask, my mom for these for my birthday. Her response went something like "you know you could feed a family of four in Colombia for several months with those shoes, right?" I tried to convince her that they were the only shoes I needed for summer and
could would wear them with everything making their hefty price tag dwindle down to a reasonable 20-30$ each time I wore them. For some reason, my mom found this not so reasonable for something that's essentially meant to protect your feet from earth's dirt sooooo, the wait for them continues. Patience is key, guys. And after all, good things come to those who wait.
Moving to the left, Rag and Bone's Newbury canvas booties. Remember when I was really obsessed with the black leather ones? After getting them, my obsession only grew and my want for another pair slowly appeared to become a necessity. I've contemplated these long and hard because it does seem kind of stupid to get two of the same shoe, but when you find something you love you are supposed to hold on to it dear and never let it go. So, that is exactly what I intend to do with these pups.
Continung across the top, the Proenza Schouler perforated open-toe boots are one of the cooler shoes that have crossed my path lately. From your ankles to where your metatarsels meet your phalanges, your feet are practially all covered up but then... they're not, and that's pretty cool. However, I'm not sure if cooler than Valentino's sandals which exhibit a more cage-like structure. What do you say Chicistanis? Either, or, you can't lose with these shoes.
Back to the right side, B by Brian Atwood's pink python-like pumps are the perfect POC to brighten up your sunny days. Bottega Veneta's wedges are also unreal, they've really stepped up their shoe game recently. Right underneath, a product of the mushing together of Alaia, Rag and Bone, Proenza and Valentino for one chic and edgy shoe better know as Rebecca Minkoff's Drew sandals. Also way more affordable, cha-ching.
Ok, so now I'm just going to go straight down to those bright Stuart Weitzman sandals and another pair of Rebecca Minkoffs. In an effort to add more color to my closet, these two sandals get the job done. I love the combination of hot pink and orange just as much as I love the ankle wrap-around strap. Then follow the Cole Haan's who seem to be hiding from me, but before that, how fun are these Missoni wedges? They scream Miami, along with the two shoes to the left. Jack and Lazaro of Proenza killing it once again while Altuzarra takes on the Hawaiian tropical print currently trending ever so hard. No straps or fancy cut-outs on these guys, but that thick ankle cuff is more than enough for me to add them onto my wish list.
A little to the left you can still find Acne color-blocking away and up just a bit, another pair of sandals by Proenza. Black, white, and camel brown, these shoesies will take you a long way come summertime. To the left for the last time, one of the coolest YSL's to date. Hello metal cap toe, printed heel, and wrap around ankle strap... be mine. Last and least, only because I'm trying to stay away from purchasing any more black shoes, a chunky wedge a le Wang.
Well guys, that's it for today and my shoe cravings. Sorry for the overwhelming amount of words on your screen, it's been a while. Until next time, Chicistanis.
