There's lots of ground to cover considering this is just the first two days of shows and today is day six of NYFW so I'm going to make this speedy.
Beginning with BCBG MAXAZRIA who has got the sheer thing down to a tee, this time also incorporating lace. To keep things interesting they topped off their romantic dresses with leather harnesses, perhaps my favorite kind o' oxymoron. I think it's safe to say those might have been inspired by Taylor Tomassi Hill, or at least made with her in mind. If none of the above, I think she'll definitely be wearing them in the future. Incase you were wondering, the first dress is my favorite.
Next came Peter Som who so far has created some of my favorite prints of Spring 2013. It's a little oriental, a bit bohemian meets the Little House on the Praire, and a whole lotta chic. The more I look at these outfits, the more I love them. I'm obsessed. If I had to choose a favorite it would be look three without a doubt. I don't even know how to begin to describe my love and need for it, but I will tell you I dreamt about me wearing it last night to an outdoor wedding. Now that I think about it, it looked a lot like Margherita Missoni's wedding. LOL. Thankfully for Moda Operandi, all the looks are available here, here, and here. Now all I need is an occasion to begin justifying such a price tag to my parents. Have you ever stopped to think about how the hell fashion has the power to make us so crazy? Cause I just did.
Jason Wu, Jason Wu -- you have successfully Wu-ed me. Have you ever seen navy and black look so good together? No seriously, have you? If you ever need inspiration in that department may I suggest viewing his collection in it's entirety. I'm also very glad to see sheer fabrics are still a thing.
Next up on the list, Rebecca Minkoff. I love the ombré tropical print, the relaxed shape and longer sides of the shorts, and absolutely loved the last look. I'm really into flouncy skirts lately but the main reason why I love this outfit is because the color combination used is not one I'ld typically like. The fact that Rebecca Minkoff manages to make it wErK makes it even better in my book.
Rag and Bone does it once again. Amazing denim, amazing jackets -- that vest needs to be mine, and hey, look! Another flouncy skirt. Gotta love some volume in your strep.
Last but certainly not least for the first two days of shows, Helmut Lang. What a pleasant surprise Nicole and Michael Colovos' Spring 2013 collection is. For a brand thats not very big on color, or floral prints for that matter, they sure did them quite well. Kudos to you guys. Other really awesome collections that didn't make the cut (for the sake of time) but should be honorably mentioned were Misha Nonoo, Sally LaPointe, and Jen Kao. If you wish to see their collections, you can check them out here. I gotta go now but expect another recap soon!
