Sup guys! Long time no see. Well not actually see, but you know what I mean. A lot has happened since the last time we we're in touch, one of the things being my day of birth. The lack of pictorial evidence suggests that I was too busy celebrating my existence to document even a single moment so, I take to MIC to remember the sartorial choices made on this lovely day.
You might remember this Opening Ceremony dress from a few posts ago. When I first saw the dress, I immediately thought of Jeremih, no a, singing "birthday dress, birthday dress." I refrained from purchasing it right then and there because it was after all only February 3rd, and I have serious commitment issues. What if something better comes along? Even worse, what if I don't like it anymore when the day finally arrives? There is something very not exciting about waiting so long to sport new purchases to me. Whenever I get something, I must wear it within a week (that is, if not immediately). If I don't experience the overwhelming need to, it probably doesn't deserve to be in my closet. Call me crazy but I must really be into everything I own. None of that "this is kinda cute, I might wear it someday so I guess I should get it" business. Every purchase is something I've at one point or another felt like I've "needed" in my life, and was head-over-heels in love with. I'm aware this sounds extremely superficial, but what can I say, I really enjoy great clothing. Sorry I'm not sorry?
I actually think my craziness makes for a great shopping rule. First of all, if you don't like it enough to wear it ASAP, you clearly don't like it that much, and thus, it probably isn't worth yo dolla dolla billz y'all. Secondly, if you really love everything you own, there's no way you can end up with anything but a beautifully edited slash dope wardrobe. This eliminates about 50% of the "what the fuck do I wear" or "I have no clothes" moments in your life -- trust me. My craziness might also just be a product of my generations' desperate need to be instantly gratified though so who knows. You can decide that while I return to my birthday digs.
Ironically enough, I didn't want to make the dress too dress-y, so I kept everything else pretty simple and stuck to my trusty Rag and Boners. I stacked on some dainty rings à la Lisa Freede, one to two on each finger of my left hand, and couldn't help but to wear these amazing Isabel Marant earrings. My friend gave them to me for my birfday (thanks again qt!), and for someone who does not wear hoops or earrings similar to their shape, I really freaking love them. I highly recommend them if you're in the market for some new summer jewels. They're the most beautiful slash flattering hue of orange, U O E N O.
