NYFW Spring 2014

Bonjour Chicistanis and happy New York Fashion Week! I was able to catch up with the first day and a half of shows and voici is my first recap, in no particular order:

First up, BCBG. I was feeling pretty meh towards the collection until this blue and white beauty popped up on my screen. Neeeeed to own it. Not so surprisingly, all the looks that I am obsessed with have some sheer detail. I think I’m still trying to hold onto SS 11 via sheer inserts…. oh, the good ol' days.

I was really impressed by Robert Rodriguez and actually really surprised, pleasantly so, that I loved so many looks. As soon as I saw the first dress, and the second look, I could not help but think YES, YES, and YES. You don’t know how long I've spent looking for something like this, guys. I’ve been dying for a mesh, sports jersey-like dress, but there’s not much out there right now. We'll talk more about this soon.

I’m usually not very into such voluminous tops but how cute is the one in the third picture? And how cute would it look with a really skinny and sleek tuxedo pant, and a different belt? I’m thinking one of those silver metal looking ones, like this Martin Margiela one

This last dress might be my favorite one from the collection. It has so much potential for sartorial greatness, and besides, who doesn’t love a feather skirt? Throw an oversized grey knit over the dress, add some nude pumps, I love these Jimmy Choo’s, and there you have yet another outfit I currently wished was in my closet. Not that I have anywhere to wear a white feather skirt too, but still. How freaking cute does that sound? That outfit deserves to exist and I personally think I deserve to wear it.

Last one for today, Rachel Comey. I’ve been staring at Rachel Comey’s first look for so long that I had to include it on here regardless of my mixed feelings. What do you think about it? At first all that denim turned me off, but there was something about it that made me have to take a second look at it, and a third, and a fourth. The more I looked, the more I liked it. I realized it’s the combination of two things I love: getting my midi on and Canadian tuxedos. I mean this is essentially one, isn’t it?

Really into the shapeless but slightly sexay silhouette of this dress. Also, FYI, everyone's really into this bright orangey red for next spring. I'm not exactly sure what's going on in this next look, but there's texture, there's volume, and I'm even into the slide sandals. There's a post in the works on this matter, so more on that soon.

Last but certainly not least, a white lace jumpsuit. I would definitely wear this. It is so Miami and I am so about it, bout it.
