Couture Spring 2014

Couture shows are underway and they are as magical as ever. I'm still waiting to see a few favorites (Valentino and Elie Saab) (I wrote this two days ago -- said reviews are coming soon), but so far Dior and Giambattista Valli have my heart doing all sorts of somersaults. I'm never not mesmerized by the incredible fairy tale-esque details of the garments (see: Giamba Valli below), but this time the shows revealed a lot more than just a shit ton of pretty I-wish-I-was-a-princess garments (re: Chanel).

There's usually a pretty big disconnect between couture collections and what people are actually ready to wear (see what I did there?), but this time a huge street-style star made the cut.

Sneakers! With really fancy dresses! When I first saw them in the Dior show I was all like "well would ya look at that," (I love mixing highs and lows like this), but the ones in the Chanel show... holy moly I love you and I need you. Karl really took it to the next level including sparkly sneakers, or at least what appear to be, and don't even get me started on the actual clothing. There's a reason why I couldn't possibly edit down my favorites to less than twelve looks. I love the pretty pastel Rainbow Fish palette he has going on and that fanny pack! I tweeted a while back that I wanted to get a dope fanny pack and I'm really glad someone else is on my page. They just seem so practical, no?
