What I Wore: NYFW SS16

Very sorry for the delay with this post. New York Fashion Week is over and I'm back to my ordinary, not so glamorous seeming life which entails playing a serious game of catch up with life and work and here I finally am!

Pictures by Jose Martinez and Nabile Quenum for L'Officiel

My first day of NYFW started with Rosie Assoulin, literally and sartorially. The above forest green Rosie top had just arrived in store at Hirshleifers and seeing as I was heading to her show in a few hours, it seemed like the obvious decision to make. To make the top more casual for a day of running around I wore my favorite wide legs that also just happen to be from H&M. Crazy, huh? Bag is Valentino and one of my favorites. I wouldn't say I'm typically a rainbow stripe kinda gal, but the darker tones mixed with white and bright pink make for one cool (and extremely wearable) bag.

Day 2, once again captured by Jose Martinez, wearing my favorite Baja East dress of the season that is really more like an extremely comfortable toga. It's a halter dress, but you know how I feel about high necks right now, so I wrapped the straps round and round and round. What you don't see in this picture unfortunately is the super duper low back. Insert heart eye emojis mixed in with fire ones here. Sneakers are Raf Simons for Adidas and the clutch is one I made my sister buy me for my birthday about 5 years ago. Thanks sissy! I still love it :)

On the evening of day 2, I attended Alexander Wang's show and party which led to selfies in the bathroom of Up and Down. Naturally. In the spirit of Monsieur Wang's 10 year anniversary I'm wearing a Balenciaga top and Alexander Wang skirt. Shoes are Alaia (similar Isabel Marant's here), Valentino bag again, and Gap denim shirt.

Day 3 felt like day 8 and now that I'm writing this I'm questioning my order of things. Anyway, I was running late to the Hood by Air show and could not be bothered for any sartorial experimentation so I threw on my trusty white lace dress from Pixie Market, white Saint Laurent sneakers, and the cherry on top: Ready-Made's military field jacket. A doper looking and fitting army jacket has yet to exist. It's worth the splurge. Cute little teeny tiny Moschino bag to tie it all together.

Later that same day I had Libertine's show and it was kinda rainy, and once again I was feeling rather lazy. I think I was also feeling sick this day so all I wanted to do was be wrapped up in my duvet. These denim Zara culottes were the closest thing to that. Denim shirt up top because a Canadian tux is Chicistan's equivelant to sweat pants and again, Ready-Made's jacket saves the day. Silver Sophia Webster pumps to make me feel somewhat feminine... somewhat.

Day 4, which I think might have been my favorite day, included an Alaia crop "top" even Jane Birkin would be jealous of. I've had my eye on this baby ever since it hit Hirshleifers' and I finally had the opportunity to take it for a spin. I was originally going to wear it with this frilly black skirt but these jeans just felt more me. Plus I recently jacked this camel suede jacket from my mom and it all just went too perfectly together with my Celine birks. Picture by Jeff Thiobedeau.

Until Paris, Chicistanis!
